The Process ...
Good design is about getting the fundamentals right. About knowing what works and why, and the methods and techniques to achieve it. House Tutors address these issues by applying a more analytical approach to interiors - helping you to bridge the gap between the amateur and the professional via the following services:
1. Home visit with design guidance (hourly rate)
Specific help with any project - be it the size or shape of a mirror to put above your fireplace (proportion according to width/height ratio) to effective lighting for your home (aim for layers of light & scale up).
2. Mini-tutorial with design guidance (approximately two hours)
Our most popular service - involving a home visit with half of the time dedicated to an explanation of the key principles of good design (a booklet to amplify is included) with focused individual guidance thereafter.
3. Small group workshops (a short morning of interior design for up to four people to
enjoy)
These start with an explanation of the way professional designers go about design and decoration using the Be Your
Own Interior Designer case as illustrated. A quicker and near foolproof method is then demonstrated, and everyone leaves with a simple room scheme. Booklets on ‘Interior style and how to achieve it’ as well as specialist colour wheels
imported from the USA are included (2 of each per workshop).
4. Sample/swatch boxes (schemes in a box made to order usually following a mini-tutorial/workshop)
