Advanced Interior Design and Decoration Certificate Course ...
This is an intensive five day semi-professional certificate course that takes place in Guildford Surrey. It looks at the principles of design and decoration in detail, and takes place in a stunning period property decorated in a classic contemporary style, so best practice is illustrated with visual examples. Everyone leaves with a portfolio of work.
The next course runs from the 19th to 23rd March 2012 with another planned for just after the October half-term in 2012 and Easter 2013.The cost is £750 which includes all equipment (portfolio case, art sleeves, mount board, scale ruler, fabrics etc) and lunch. The focus is on frequently used skills, such as how to create scaled templates to discover best furniture arrangements and creating effective concept, fabric and furniture boards rather than on learning how to draw detailed ink plans or colour render…although drawing to elevation is briefly explained. The aim is to provide a firm foundation for those thinking of interior design as a career, possibly using their portfolio to find employment or even to set-up on their own. About half of those attending do so for pleasure/self-enrichment and as a means to achieving a more professional finish in their own home.
A summary of the course content is as follows:
The key elements of good design: Style, including the historical perspective: The professional route to design: Superior colour, pattern and texture considerations: Effective lighting schemes: Stylising a room for quality and originality.
